Many, if not most problems that are addressed fall into the linear elastic category. The motions involved are relatively small and the materials remain within their elastic range during the loading. The analysis of most problems involving ordinary structures such as vehicles, pressure vessels, and most components involved in civilian use are included in this category.
PMI’s staff has conducted literally hundreds of linear elastic analyses over the past years. We have conducted analyses of complete multi-story buildings, numerous types of both on- and off-road vehicles, countless components for equipment both large and small, as well as the thermal performance of many systems. We have developed in-house procedures to couple thermal and flow effects on structural performance.
